食用燕窝由来

明时李时珍撰本草纲目，应陈懋仁撰泉南杂技，对燕窝的叙述：『闽之远海近番处，有燕名金丝者。首尾似燕而甚小，毛如金丝。临卵育子时群飞进汐砂泥有石处，啄蠶螺食。有询海商，闻之土番云，蠶螺背上肉有两肋如逢蠶丝，坚洁而白，食之可补虚损，以劳痢。故此燕食之，肉化而肋不化，并律液呕出，结为小窝附石上。久之，与小雏鼓翼而飞，海人依时拾之，故曰燕窝』。在西方，燕窝则被称为“Edible Bird’s Nest”，意思就是『可吃的鸟巢』。

According to the ancient Chinese Medical Journal, the birthline of Bird's nest has a long illustrious history. The ancestral roots of swiftlets originate from the golden swiftlet. Swiftlets swarm and feed on a variety of prey, before their mating and reproduction. Before the mating, a process of nest building is practised on variety of surfaces, through the natural bodily secretions from a swiftlet's mouth. As time passed by, the Edible Bird's nest was generated.

一般我们所见的燕子多居北半球，属Hirundinidae类，常见于中国、印度、欧洲及北美洲，是最广为人们所熟悉的一种燕子。其窝皆以树枝、细草、泥土所造，故此类燕窝皆无食用及营养价值，也并非『本草纲目』所记载的燕窝。

The common swiftlets in the world live in the northern hemisphere, mostly in China, India, Europe and North America. These swiftlets use twigs, tender grass and mud to create their nests. These nests possess no ntritional value, and are not the nests being recorded in the Chinese Medical Journal.

古时所载之燕窝为金丝燕(Colloclia, 俗称Swiftlet)，属雨燕科。金丝燕比我们常见的燕子体型较小些，背部羽毛呈灰褐色，带有金丝光泽，翅膀尖而长，体型呈弧月形，四个脚趾都朝前生长。此燕的喉部有很发达的黏液腺，所分泌的唾液可在空气中凝成固体，是它们筑巢的只要材料。

The nests which are of nutritional value are created by Colloclia, or Swiftlets, belonging to a specific of swiftlet family. These swiftlets are slighter in size, its fur is brownish grey, with a tinge of gold. Its wings are sharper and longer, creating a crescent body structure. Its claws grow outwards. As these swiftlets have well developed saliva glands, they can produce secretions which harden in room temperature, this secretion is what they use to build their nests.

金丝燕每年生产有三季（三月至六月、六月至十月或十一月至二月），通常一次产两颗蛋，它们每天飞翔于海面和高空，摄食海面上的小鱼、海藻或田野间的昆虫等小生物。在消化完食物后，他们飞到海拔较高的峭壁裂缝、洞穴深处，以唾液分泌物筑成窝巢，大约二十多天才能筑成。筑成的燕巢，只要是为了孵蛋用，燕子并不居于其中，对于金丝燕筑成的巢，採燕窝的人并不会做杀鸡取卵的事，他们会耐心等待金丝燕生儿育女，小燕子飞离巢，成燕即废弃此巢不再使用，方可进行燕窝采集工作。

These golden swiftlets have 3 reproductive seasons (March - June, June to October, November - March). In general ,they lay 2 eggs per season. Daily, the swiftlets fly out to the sea and the skies, feeding on fish, plankton, or insects and organisms in the open fields. After digestion, they locate a suitable location in a cave or cliff wall and use their saliva to create their nests. This process takes 20 days. The completed nest is only used to nurse and incubate the eggs, the swiftlets do not stay in them. During extraction, the nest extractors will not harm the birds or eggs, they await patiently for the swiftlets to leave before extraction.

根据历史家认为，中国首位吃燕窝并带动风潮者是明代七下西洋的航海家郑和，并因此在华人圈形成风气。某次，郑和的远洋船队在海上遇上大风暴，被迫停泊在马来群岛的一个荒岛，因食物严重短缺，无意中发现硝壁上的燕窝。于是郑和就命令部署采摘、洗净后用清水炖煮食用充饥。数日后，船员个个脸色红润，中气颇足。回国时，郑和因而携带些燕窝献给明成祖。从此，燕窝成了朝拜皇帝重臣的贡品。燕窝成为贡品后，其价值连城。

According to historians, the pioneer of nest consmption was the voyager, Cheng Ho, which ultimately led to a great influx of other chinese eaters. On one fateful voyage, Cheng Ho and his crew were stranded on an island on the Malay Archipelago, due to a severe shortage, the crew found and extracted the bird's nests for his consumption. After the cleansing, boiling and consumption for days, the crewmen were found to be in the pink of health, with an improved bodily functioning ability. Upon his return, Cheng Ho presented the miraculous discovery to the Emperor, leading to the delicacy being a sacred item consumed only in royalty and castles.

最早的燕窝介绍文字记载在1695年的《本草逢源》，认为燕窝能使金水相生（肺属金，胃属水），是食品之中最驯良者。根据文字记载，燕窝输入中国大抵是十七世纪后期，每年有十二万五千磅燕窝从爪哇的巴达维亚（现称雅加达）运往中国，而这也与郑和七下西洋经过的国家时间相吻合。

The earliest recording of bird's nests in literature was in a Medical Journal, it mentions that the delicacy is beneficial to the lungs and stomach, and is a premium food item. It also states that the lasrgest exporter of the nests was Batawelia (modern day Jakarta), the stock is exported to China. The timeline is similar to that of Cheng Ho's expedition.

不过，也有史学对此说不以为然。他们指出，唐代诗圣杜甫的诗及明初贾铭写给明太祖朱元璋的『饮食须知』一书中，都有记载，而另一本『宛暑杂记』也提到大宴中有燕窝，可见郑和之前就有人吃过燕窝。但是学者们却也认为，郑和虽然不一定是中国第一个吃燕窝人，但很可能是第一个把燕窝献给皇帝的人，使燕窝的身价从此青云直上。

However, there were also contradictory views, documents from the Tang Dynasty have mentioned the presence of bird's nests in consumption. It is evident that the bird's nests have also been consumed and extracted before the time of Cheng Ho. However, most historians agree that even if Cheng Ho was not the first Chinese consumer of bird's nest, he was the first person who presented the delicacy to royalty, and the pioneer who led to the rapid rise in value and respect for the Bird's Nest.

ULTRASONIC BIRD'S NEST CLEANER 超音波清洗燕窝

其实用超音波来清洗燕窝的功能可以节省很多时间和清洁度，不过它本来也只是1台超音波清洗机罢了，清洗燕窝的步骤还是人工的。

1. 将燕窝用蒸馏水（RO）喷湿，然后用湿布包裹，放入朔胶透明盒里，再放入冰箱4小时以上。

2. 将燕窝从冰箱（是冷藏室,不是结冰格）拿出来刷一刷，这时候燕窝已发涨1倍以上。

3. 用人工将燕毛与杂物剔除，记得别把倆边的燕窝脚给剪掉，因为如果剪掉后燕窝容易散开。

4. 将清理好的燕窝用膜型与衣夹定型。

5. 将定型好的燕窝放入已加入蒸馏水的超音波清洗机机曹上，开电，超音震动。

6. 将清洗好的燕窝连衣夹定型的膜型，放在开了电的灯泡下，用凤扇吹干即可。

以上是我个人的清洗法，如有错处尽请原谅。

In actual fact, the use of ultrasonic waves to cleanse bird's nests is both efficient and effective, it only requires 1 ultrasonic wave device. The actual physical work invovled in cleaning the nest still requires manual labour.

1. Moisten the nest with RO solution, before wrapping it up with a damp cloth, insert it into a empty translucent container, and refrigerate the container for up to 4 hours.

2. Remove bird's nest from refrigerator, scrub it a little, this will allow the bird's nest to expand to twice its size.

3. Use manual labour to remove visible feather fragments and contaminants, remember to cut out both ends of the nests, this allows the nests to break down easily.

4. Use the mould and clothes pegs to fixate the shape and size of the bird's nest pieces.

5. Insert the moulded pieces into the ultrasonic wave device for the process.

6. Place the entire mould under a light bulb, use an electronic fan to dry.

This is just my suggested way of cleansing and drying the bird's nests, I hope you find it useful.

1、什么是：“隔水炖”，有什么不同？

答：“隔水炖”就是将要炖的物品一起放在小容器里，然后再放进一个大的锅里，大锅里放水再炖，因为大锅里的水与小容器里的汤是分隔的，所以叫“隔水炖”。隔水炖是通过加热水来导热炖盅内炖品，这样不会超过100度比普通炖锅保护营养，合适炖贵重补品。

2、炖东西要多久？

答：炖燕窝大约1小时，炖汤类的基本2小时可以吃，炖东西3小时可以熟。

3、定时是什么意思？

答：定时就是现在按开始炖，炖锅立即开始炖煮，如果设置定1小时，那么炖锅就煮了1小时后就转为保温。

4、产品的容量有多大？

答：大概2小碗够一人吃，如果是炖燕窝药材够2人用。

以上只是要让大家了解电炖盅与隔水炖的用途，绝无广告作业。

1. What is the Water Separation Cooker? What is the Difference?

Ans: The concept of water separation is to include all the items to be cooked in a little container, before putting it in a larger pot. The larger pot is then filled with water to start the boiling.

Because the boiling water is separated from the actual cooked items, we call this a special technique. This technique uses warm water to heat up the little pot and its contents. This way, the temperature is maintained at 100degrees celcius. This method is suitable for protecting and keeping the essence and nutrients of more expensive ingredients.

2. How long is the cooking process?

Ans: For bird's nest, I would recommend cooking it for 1 hour. Other soup items should be ready within 2 hours. Food items may require up to 3 hours cooking time.

3. Importance if timing function.

Ans: When the timing function is set, the cooker will switch itself to temperature rentention mode after the time has been expended.

4. Capacity of contents?

Ans: Approximately 2 bowls, enough consumption for 1 person. For bird's nest with herbs, enough consumption for 2 persons.

The above is just some information for everyone to reference and use. There is no commercial interest intended.

An ultrasonic cleaner, sometimes called a sonicator, is a cleaning device that uses ultrasound (usually from 20–400 kHz) and an appropriate cleaning solvent (sometimes ordinary tap water) to clean delicate items. The ultrasound can be used with only water but solvent is advised; it enhances the effect of a solvent appropriate for the item to be cleaned and the soiling.

Ultrasonic cleaners are often used to clean jewellery, lenses and other optical parts, watches, dental and surgical instruments, fountain pens, industrial parts and electronic equipment. They are used in many jewellery workshops, watchmakers' establishments, and electronic repair workshops.

1）频率：≥20KHz ，可以分为低频，中频，高频3段。2）清洗介质：采用超声波清洗，一般两类清洗剂：化学溶剂、水基清洗剂。清洗介质的化学作用，可以加速超声波清洗效果，超声波清洗是物理作用，两种作用相结合，以对物件进行充分、彻底的清洗。　　3）功率密度：功率密度=发射功率（W）/发射面积（cm2）通常≥0.3W/cm2，超声波的功率密度越高，空化效果越强，速度越快，清洗效果越好。但对于精密的、表面光洁度甚高的物件，采用长时间的高功率密度清洗会对物件表面产生空化腐蚀。　　4）超声波频率：超声波频率越低，在液体中产生的空化越容易，产生的力度大，作用也越强，适用于工件（粗、脏）初洗。频率高则超声波方向性强，适用于精细的物件清洗。　　5）清洗温度：一般来说，超声波在30℃-40℃时的空化效果最好。清洗剂则温度越高，作用越显著。通常实际应用超声波时，采用50℃-70℃的工作温度。

超音波清洗的优点

这个June 6月的燕窝生产季节才到收割期，不过有些燕农已开始收割大约70%小燕子刚刚飞离巢的燕窝了。这个生产收成季节可算是大丰收. 不过价格回软一些些.。是因为我们的邻国有如印尼，泰国等，同时也是大丰收。货源超级充足，自然价格回软，对燕窝加工与收购商可是大好商机，身为养燕人当然希望价格能赶快回升。

June will be the month for our big harvests. However, some swiftlet farmers have already started the extraction of bird's nests. Approximately 70% of baby swiftlets have already left their nests. Although this is the season for a big harvest, the prices may face a slight reduction. The reason for this reduction is simply because of increased supply. Our neighbours in Indonesia, and Thailand are also experiencing the harvest season. As supply increases, price automatically regulates itself downwards. This is a major opportunity for bird's nest processing and wholesalers of nests. As a swiftlet farmer, we are all wishing for the prices to rebound as soon as possible.

这是在所拍摄的燕屋，燕子，燕窝中，最满意的其中一张相片了。因为是在雨天的关系，燕屋屋顶漏水了，燕窝几乎淋湿以致发胀了好几倍，幸好还没有小鸟。这种情况下，唯一可做到的是。。等，等，等。等到天气热的时候钻进天花板，爬到屋顶上补漏，千万别把燕窝给拔了。小心看一看这个燕窝，它的根基是很稳固的，而且还在那位置繁殖了好几代。在这里，养燕业这行非常辛苦。要遇到天敌，如鸟鹰，猫头鹰，蛇，壁虎，老鼠等，而且还有没真正规划的关系与常识，加上邻居的投诉，政府方面的取缔，使我们这一行，成为了非法一族。还有如果燕窝商能与燕屋商能好好配合与交流，大家的货色与价格都能统一，互惠互利，绝对双赢。

This is a photo taken at a swiftlet house. It is the most pleasing photo i currently possess amongst my many photos of swiftlets and swiftlet houses. Due to the rainy conditions, the roof is leaking, the birds nest has also expanded due to water rentention. Thankfully, there are no little swiftlets here. In this situation, the only thing we can do.. is to wait. We have to wait for the weather to improve, and make repairs to the leak on the roof. We should never remove the bird's nests.

If we look carefully at the nest, it is secured tightly, this location has also been used to breed several generations. Swiftlet farming is a tough line, apart from natural predators like eagles, owls, snakes, lizards and rats, we have to understand the laws and reglations, endure the neighbourhood complaints and potential government interference. We have even been viewed as an illegal trade. If we develop a synery, and compromise to provide for a standardised price and quality, it will definitely be a win win situation.

由于有些燕屋已有5年的关系，喷雾机的年龄也大了。有如上几期我所提起的喷雾机生病了，用了这么多年的老家伙，真的有点舍不得把它给换掉。早期就有商家生产了这个款式的4头冠. 由于价钱的关系，一再观望到现今。如今这款4头喷雾管头冠，价格已甚低了，装配又容易。所以有考虑都为它们加冠升级，也有如自己也升了级当到皇上般的，所以就命它的美丽名为“THE ROYAL HUMIDIFIER. 皇冠喷雾机”了。

大家都知道，这个款式的喷雾机所喷出来的水雾没那么细，也没有导向，都是往上喷，对燕屋内的燕板，燕窝等等，都容易发霉，腐烂，而且范为围有限。记得我所建过的其中一间燕屋，燕屋主人甚至还特别在喷雾机上面加了一个铁架子，架子上还加了辛片瓦，好让水雾往4方8面喷。试想想作为这一位燕屋主人的想法与远见，真的叫我佩服的五体投地，敬佩，敬佩，而且这还是5年前的故事了，真的是大家应该学習的对象。

另外要提的是，请大家仔细的观看第8张相片，这就是我每次都使用的在喷雾机里的喷雾剂加上了燕屋方香剂“SWIFTLET'S AROMA”的相关相片了。希望我个人的想法会带给大家对于燕屋企业家，燕屋屋主，燕窝与燕屋发烧友们的苦与乐，更带来了一份勤奋的启发与开拓更大的想象的空间。谢谢。。。。

After 5 years, the humidifier has gotten old. Like I mentioned previously, the humidifiers are begging for a good repair job. After I have gotten attached to these humidifiers and find it hard to dispose of them.There are earlier reports about a new add-on device which have 4 barrels protruding in different directions. However, due to the high price, I have only been a spectator instead of a user. Today, the price has gotten more reasonable, it is also easy to install. Due to the unique, regal look of the crown like structure, I have dubbed this, the Royal Humidifier.

This model of humidifier does not release the finest stream of water vapour, also, there is no directional change, it only releases upwards, this is not the best situation because of the potential degrading of the wooden structures in the birdhouse. I remember a previous experience with an intelligent owner who added a device to the humidifier to both increase the area of effectiveness of the humidifer, and also divert the direction of the vapour release. What a smart and brilliant idea! This story from 5 years ago can still be used today.

As you may be able to see from picture 8, I have added swiftlet's aroma into the humidifier to try to increase the effectiveness of the device. Owning, building and developing a swiftlet house requires imagination, creativity and effort. I wish one and all the very best of luck and kudos for your dedication.

据了解，燕子是一种居住在山洞的野生及受保护鸟类之一。不过历经百年的迁移与人类的大量的在家居内饲养，久而久之变成了有如家禽一般，也成为了有如鸡，鸭，牛，羊，狗与其他飞禽一般。假如能把金丝燕子规划成家禽，而不是属于受保护野生鸟类，那么养燕工业应该是属于前途无量的行业之一，它同时也带动了很多周边的生意，如制造业，建筑业，加工，出口和包装业等。记得要养的是金丝燕，也只有金丝燕能造出可食用燕窝，希望大家能引燕成功。

在这里顺道一提，作为一名养燕者或投资家，都必须接受地方政府与兽医局的养燕指南为标准基础。不准在住家，古迹，商店低层，公寓等等，装修为燕屋。喇叭应该向天40度，外声必须从早上7am开机-晚上7pm关机，音量不能太大。内声只要声量小，24小时开声是没问题的。记得要经常处理燕子的粪便，以及在地上喷洒杀虫剂，而不是在燕板上。这样就能预防害虫，如燕子粪便在分解时，会产生的一些细菌与虫子到处滋生，另外可以控制鸟蝨的殖生。其他详情请参考兽医局的养燕指南。谢谢。

顺便敬请大家好好想想，大自然生物界中。不论飞禽走兽，哺乳动物，鱼类，虫类，胎生或卵生。它们天生就会觅食，成长，配对，交配，建巢筑窝，父母对生儿育女，无怨无悔，一代传一代。知道生活法则，责任，种类，天生天养，严格接受自然法则，随从食物链，弱肉强食，选择适者生存的理论，生存了下来，不过却从不破坏与污染大地和地球，聪明人类呀！地球只有一个，不好好保护它，也如同不保护你我的下一代。重点是我们人类如果对环保的意识还不够认识，那是非常不可思议的呀！　

To my knowledge, swiftlets are wildlife which reside in caves and are a protected species of the world. However, in recent years, swiftlets are increasingly being found in houses as pets, like chickens, ducks, dogs and other feathered creatures. If we manage to classify golden swiftlets as a domesticated species, the possibilities are unlimited. The swiftlet industry has also had a ripple effect on several other industries, like the manufacturing, construction, processing, exporting and packaging industries. I hope everyone will be successful in this venture.

As a swiftlet enthusiast and investor, we have to follow closely the regulations being set up by the authorities. Swiftlet houses are not allowed to be located in houses, historical relics, lower levels of shops, condominiums and etc.The speakers will have to face 40degrees upwards towards the sky. External sounds should be only operational from 7am to 7pm, the volume should be controlled. Internal sound volume should also be controlled and 24 hour usage is acceptable. To deal with the swiftlet droppings, and regular clearing of pests should also be practised. This can help prevent pests from breeding and also prevent viruses and diseases from spreading due to the decomposition of droppings. Think about it, regardless of what species it is, they have the desire to survive, to live and to grow. The aim of animals parent are to develop their next generation, and nurture them to grow. However, humans have destroyed their habitats through pollution. We only have 1 Earth, we should protect it, take care of these species, and understand the importance of caring for the environment.

YOUTH SWIFTLET.燕子长大了。

Yesterday, we went to a few bird houses to take photos of the swiftlet's growth. They have grown quickly and strongly. These swiftlets are still not fully grown and are unable to fly, I believe these swiftlets will be ready in another 10 days.

Recently, we have been installing the loudspeakers and testing the sound systems. We are also increasing the aroma content in the houses. The whole process of preparing the house also includes the clearing of swiftlet droppings, the removing of pests like ants, and attaching more paper bird nest mock cups on the plywood to attract more swiftlets.

昨日到几间燕屋去拍摄燕子的生长过程，发现它们都长大的蛮快。长了翅膀的它们还不会飞，应该还要十多天吧！

所以这几天我都忙着装音响和检查音响，还有加重鸟屋的味道，包括清理鸟粪，喷射蚂蚁药和增加一些纸燕窝。

ACACIA MAGUIM 马占相思树

The Acacia Magium is a very common tree in Malaysia. We can easily find this tree in parks, beside our roads and amongst the lush greenery. Whenever the tree blooms, there are flowers which attracts plenty of flying insects. These insects are drawn to its pollen which is an excellent source of food. This phenomenon in turn attracts several swiftlets as well. The flying insects provide food and prey for the swiftlets.

Whenever you have the opportunity, I urge one and all to stop, take a step back and marvel at this beautiful natural sight.

The following photos were takn yesterday afternoon at a friend's swiftlet house. These are photos of growing baby swiftlets and their lifes. If my predictions are right, in another 28 or so days, the seiftlets will be ready to fly away into the skies. During this eriod, I urge all swiftlet house owners to do all they can to keep the swiftlets in their house, and not to try to chase out the seiftlets so the nests may be harvested.

If the swiftlet's lose their homes, they may lose their direction and may fly away with the other swifltets. 1 kilogram of bird's nest is about 130 nests, multiplied by an average 1.5 swiftlets per nest, there are 195 swiftlets, if this is multiplied by 3 harvests a year, there are 585 swiftlets. Where will these swiftlets go? think about it..

这是昨天下午在朋友燕屋里拍摄到的正在成长中的小燕子生活近况。假如没有预测错误的话，要等小燕子离巢时间应该是+-28天。在这段期间，请敬爱的燕屋主人们，多想想怎么样去让小燕子留下来，并不是打算有多少燕窝可采，价差多少。如果燕窝采去了，小燕子一时也不知住那里，慢慢的就与其他燕群飞走了。试想想1kg燕窝，大约是130+-。130个燕窝 x 1.5只燕子= 195只燕子 x 1 年 x 3 季 =585只小燕子飞的那去那？你还再想什么呢？朋友。。。。

燕窝加工 Processed Bird's Nest

This is a bird's nest processing plant which is quite big in size. The processed bird's nests are mostly used for export, therefore, they are of a higher quality and have an endless supply stream.

When we arrived at the factory, it was already in the evening, most of the employees have already left the premises for home. The owner was however kind enough to stay behind and got one of his staff members to work overtime and demonstrate the procedure of bird's nest processing.

We are very grateful to him for his goodwill and kind intentions. The owner has agreed to allow myself, Jblim to be the distributor of his products locally. This is indeed a milestone agreement.

THE SPECIAL SWIFTLET NEST. 特殊燕窝。

This is a very special and unique bird's nest. It is situated at 5cm between the roof and the plywood structure. Despite it's awkward location, it has successfully bore life and nurtured quite a few baby swiftlets. Taking this photo also required quite a long period of time and effort. The cameras being used were usually difficult to position to capture the scene. We had to climb up to the 6th rung of the ladder to reach the desired height. There were also several failed attempts at taking a good photo of this amazing sight.

I am in awe of the dedication and the effort being put in by the parents of this nest. I am also curious, and filled with emotions because of their choice. This is definitely an epic sight which I hope everyone will like.

The photos taken were taken at different times of the day and different periods of the baby swiftlet's growth. It was taken in pitch dark conditions and we took special care to not interfere, or affect the nurturing care of the parents for their young. I do hope everyone enjoys these pictures.

这是一个非常特殊的燕窝。它是在燕子板与天花板之间大约5CM（2 寸左右）的空间下所吐出来的燕窝。但它的确已经这个地方，繁殖了好几对燕子。要拍摄这些镜头，也得花上好几个月时间，因为空间非常有限，相机镜头常顶到天花板，还要爬上6级楼梯，相片也拍坏不少，实在不易。不过对于这对燕子爸妈精心所经营的燕窝所选择的地点都感到很好奇与敬佩，也为了留下这美丽的历史画面，这是绝对经典的画面，希望大家会喜欢。以上的拍摄工作时间都在白天与不同的繁殖期间，在暗不见五指的情况下拍摄的，绝对没有干扰与影响到燕子夫妇哺育小燕子的温馨时刻。

MAGIC POWDER . 燕子飞虫粉

The magic powder consists of an all natural blend of the eggs of flying insects mixed with maize flour and egg yolk powder. There are also a fw other unidentifiable substances.

The key advatage of using this powder is its ability to produce flying insects to serve as the swiftlet's food. However, the se of such powders is not recommended for hygeine purposes. Moreover, after the reproducion is complete, it will require additional effort to deal with and properly dispose of the residue. These remnants may turn bad and start to decompose, resulting in wierd and unsuitable smells for the swiftlet's house.

Always remember to clean up after using this powder. This is my personal advice and experience, I hope it has been useful.

据我所知燕子飞虫粉，纯属天然飞虫卵与一些麦粉，蛋黄粉之混合体，其他原料不详。好处是能在短时间繁殖飞虫来引燕子与作为燕子的食物。不好处是，卫生方面不鼓励。另一方面如果飞虫孵化完成之后，没有好好处理那些混合体，那它就会产生发酸，发臭，发霉，甚至发出异味，

This is indeed a miraculous sight. The blood red bird's nest is a rare sight in any swiftlet's house. Yet, this was found attached to a lighting fixture. This is an expensive and very much sought after piece of treasure.

燕屋奇观！！！燕子竟然不需要依靠木板的支撑，也能造出罕见而珍贵又美丽的血燕窝。

MY DAMAGED HUMIDIFIER 喷雾机生病了。

After being in use for 3 to 4 years, my humidifier has broken down. I had originally planned to use these broken down devices as spare parts. However, as more parts broke down, I contemplated changing my plans. Moreover, a humidifier does not cause much in Malaysia. It is only around RM400.00, only around 1/4 - 1/5 of a electro-motor humidifier.

However, I decided against a new purchase. The broken down humidifier may be abit noisier, the mist produced not as fine, and a new water tank was also needed. However, 1 water tank is sufficient to supply 4 to 5 humidifiers. We may also include a few drops of swiftlet's aroma into the fluids, allowing the humidifier to have an added purpose and impact on the swiftlet's house. Most swiftlet house owners would prefer this model of humidifiers, as it is convenient and cost-effective.

As for my 4 broken down humidifiers, I fixed the ball bearings, oil seal, and re-routed the electrical wiring for an additional 10 metres. The total cost was only that of a new moter humidifier. Now, I have 4 working devices, it is not only cost-effective, but also environmentally friendly too.

用了将近3年多至4年的喷雾机，终于还是生病了。本来打算当做备用零件来用，可是越来越多台坏了。毕竟这些喷雾机在马来西亚不会很贵，一台大概RM400.00左右，比一台MOTOR电子喷雾机便宜1/4 - 1/5，差点就决定买台新的。但最终打消了这个念头，虽然它吵了点，雾气也没有这么细，未经改良雾气只能往上喷，还要加1个Water Tank 。不过，1个Water Tank水槽可以供四五个喷雾器使用，我们也容易在水槽里面注入燕屋香精。许多燕屋主喜欢使用这款喷雾机，因为它方便移动，价格又合理，所以得到很多燕屋主的亲睐。

至于我那四台生病了的喷雾机，经过修理换了轮轴，油介子 Oil Seal后，我还特地把电线直接从马达那延长十米，加起来相等于一粒新的价钱，但我却有四台可使用，不但经济实惠，而且非常环保。

Swiftlet's House Humidifier Systems 燕屋喷雾器

It is essential to use Humidifier systems in swiftlet's houses. There are several uses for a humidifier system. Firstly, the humidifier seeks to regulate the temperature in the birdhouse. A conducive temperature is important to keep the swiftlets comfortable and happy in the birdhouse.

Secondly, the humidity level can be monitored.

燕屋里使用喷雾器，有很多用处。首先，喷雾器能够调节燕屋内的温度，也能够把湿度保持在适当的水平。燕子们需要这些适当的条件，才会在燕屋住的开心与舒适。

The humidifier system shown in the 1st picture above has been fitted with a double barrelled exhaust device. This can attempt to prevent the water from reaching the swiftlet's planks and surrounding walls, as the water may wet these walls and cause fungus to appear.

第一张照片里的喷雾器已经装置上了双筒排气管。能够防止喷雾剂直接接触到燕板，防止发生发霉的状况。

After the humidifier is set in motion, we can clearly see that the ring of water has appeared around the humidifier.

利用喷雾器后，可以清楚的看到周围的水份。

Here are some damaged humidifier systems which I will be sending for servicing before returning them to their positions.

这里有些损坏了的喷雾器，需要维修。修好后就能够回到‘工作岗位’了。

I am going to share a secret formula with you. Apart from using regular water in the humidifier systems to regulate temperature and humidity, we can add in our Swifltet's Aroma extract into the systems, this way, we can continuously keep the birdhouse attractive to swiftlets.

我来跟大家分享一个秘密，使用喷雾器时，可以在水内放入一些燕屋香精，让喷雾器定时散发香精，让燕屋更加成功！

Golden swiftlet's eggs... not one, not two, but three!!

In Malaysia, there are thousands of swiftlet houses. Many bird's nests which can produce at least 2 eggs each can be found.

After the baby swiftlet has grown big and strong enough, it will fly away. Think about it this way, 1 swiftlet can bring his or her mate to come in to your swiftlet's house, to build a nest, lay 2 eggs and call the place home.

This leads to 2 parents + 2 babies = 4. Consider the multiplier effect of 1.2.4.8.16.32. There are limitless opportunities. However, we have to use or inteligence, skills and hard work to attract, and retain the baby swiftlets, to prevent them from flying to neighbouring Birdhouses.

This is my personal opinion and suggestion, I hope it will be useful.

金色燕子蛋。。。不是一粒，不是两粒，而是三粒！

马来西亚目前有数万间燕屋。燕屋内的燕窝都有机会生产一至两粒鸟蛋。

小燕子长大后，会飞离燕窝。试想想。。。燕子找到了伴侣，会把伴侣带回燕屋，重新造窝，组织新的家庭。

两只燕子，再加上两只小燕，就等于四只新的住户。1，2，4，8，16，32。机会是无限的。

我们必须使用知识，智慧，技术与努力来吸引这些燕子，为它们创造理想和舒适的居住环境，不要让它们飞到别的鸟屋。

This video shows a successful bird's house. It can be seen clearly that the swiftlets are flying around in the house as the video is being taken.

Also, on the wooden planks, we can see that the bird's nests are overcrowded, and lining across the planks. It will soon be harvest time when the nestlings will leave their nests and start exploring the world. It is indeed a beautiful and amazing sight. The sense of acheivement, of having successfully bred another generation of swiftlets, brings much joy to our hearts.

I see, I shoot, I post. This is a bird's house which belongs to my friend. It almost 10 years old. This nest is 100% pure.

These bird's nests are red in colour because of a rare biological change which occurs naturally within the swiftlet community. There is no difference in the quality of the bird's nests. However this rare phenomenon means the nests are very much sought after and are sold at a premium price.

This is a very serious problem of the swiftlet house. In the pictures, you can clearly see the Owl, cockroaches and Bats.

These 3 animals and insects affect the effectiveness and the usability of the birdhouse. Care should be taken to ensure these natural predators should not be allowed into the bordhouse.

Pest removal should therefore be practised to remove the cockroaches.

THE WALETS LOVER SOUND SYSTEM :- Fekuensi Khusus Memanggil Burung Walet

This is a special Swiftlets Lover Sound System. It incorporates a Mp3 player with special frequencies to attract swiftlets.

These sound systems are similar to the regular Mp3 players which we use in the bird house. The sound level meter is used to measure the decibel (dB) of the sound frequency. (The decibel is a measure of sound pressue level)

Through these accurate measurements, we can optimise the sounds which are used in the swiftlet house. Different decibels can have different effects on the swiftlets attracted to the birdhouse.

With a little effort and time spent in making the measurements, this device will help the bird house owner analyse the data and use the optimum decibel levels for swftlets sounds, therefore making the swiftlet house a success.

分貝dB（decibel）是量度兩個相同單位之數量比例的單位，主要用於度声音強度，常用dB表示。「分」（deci-）指十分之一，個位是「貝」（bel），但一般只採用分貝。
